Excellent blog Liz! And I couldn’t agree more. The kind of chemistry that Stephen and Mary Beth have together is like nothing I have ever seen between any two actors. They are amazing as individuals, but together they are off the charts. I too loved them as Stefan and Katherine and I hate with a passion that pairing was seen by some as a “failure” simply because the writing for them was so pathetic. They weren’t given a chance to succeed on GH as that’s a shame. When they are onscreen together, something magical happens, and I don’t think any SN&MBE fan could even put it into words. I would love so much to see them work together again on Y&R. To see them as different characters on such a well-written show would be a dream for their fan base.

I agree, very much so!!! No one can deliver like SN and MBE!!! Maybe it is their long-term friendship, or maybe their work ethic. Maybe it’s a combination of both. All I know is that when SN and MBE are on screen together… it’s magic!!!

In life, there are some people you just “click” with. There is no explanation, no reason, it’s either there or it’s not. I think Stephen and Mary Beth “clicked” right from the start.

Their performances are outstanding because they are both talented actors, but I think the ‘magic’ of their pairing is the two individuals. It sounds like they have an amazing friendship and their connection shows in their work.

I have heard so many people over the years comment that the two had to have a ‘thing’ for each other. I think that is the biggest compliment they could get. Their love for each other (platonic as it is) shows in their interaction. That is not something that can be faked.

There are many talented actors in the world, but that magic doesn’t come through by talent alone. You also need chemistry, a connection. Stephen and Mary Beth absolutely have it and I would LOVE to see them paired up again. (with decent writing…just putting them on screen is wonderful, but give them a story worth their talent – perhaps a determined ex-wife attorney coming to town to wage a battle against her successful business tycoon ex-husband?)

Wonderful blog, Liz. I could agree more. Stephen and Mary Beth have amazing chemistry together. They have the ability to give us characters that can be independent and still capture us but when the characters come together, whether its Steve & Kayla or Stefan & Katherine, they bring us to a whole new level without loosing their individuality. I think what sets them apart is their commitment to their work, respect for each others talent, and an absolute trust in each other.
