About Mary Beth Evans…

Mary Beth Evans knew what she wanted to do from an early age; her fourth-grade classmates in Orange County, California, named her “best actress”. From there, the fair-haired, self-described “beach girl” set her sights on a performing career. At 14 she got a job in a fast-food restaurant in order to pay for her older sister to drive her to acting classes.

Following graduation from Huntington Beach High School, Mary Beth spent five months in Europe before joining the prestigious South Coast Repertory Conservatory where she performed in several stage productions. She also took part in the L.A. Mime festival around this time.

Mary Beth is widely known as a television actress with roles on such shows as Rituals where she played Dakota Lane (1985), Days Of Our Lives where she played the hugely popular Kayla Brady Johnson (1986-1992 and again from 2006-2009), General Hospital where she played Katherine Bell (1993-1999), and As The World Turns where she played Sierra Montgomery (2001-2005). Aside from her work in daytime TV, she’s also had guest spots on shows such as Law & Order: SVU, Nip/Tuck and Monk.

Her stage work includes roles in All This and Moonlight, The Tangled Snarl, Love Letters, Hotel Paradiso, A Christmas Carol and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. In addition to her acting work, in 2007 she was one of three judges on the Soapnet reality show I Wanna Be a Soap Star, where she helped pick the winning contestant for a starring spot on Days of Our Lives.

In 2005, on a dare from her husband, Mary Beth turned a family recipe into a business run out of her own kitchen- Mary Beth’s Apple Pie Co. Her pies have been sold in the Williams-Sonoma holiday catalog, and were previously featured on QVC.

Recently, Mary Beth has also been writing an online, weekly blog for Hybrid Mom magazine, and has been featured in several of the print versions of the magazine. There she shares personal experiences, with tips & tricks on everything from raising kids, to decorating, to preparing gatherings for friends and family.
