As part of the introduction, Bandy & Bailey asked, “How many times can Marlena be possessed?” Stephen laughed and said, “I don’t know.”
Stephen said that his love for his character brought him back to DAYS after 16 years away. He “always knew he’d come back.”
DAYS OF OUR LIVES FANS REJOICE! Patch and Kayla are back! (This was their lead in to the next part of the interview.)
Says he sees Kayla…He says she is all overcome with emotions and collapses in his arms. He says he and Mary Beth added her fainting in his arms. Stephen said it wasn’t in the script but he and Mary Beth asked each other what would you do if you saw someone you thought was dead…says you’d faint, so that is what we did! They joked if they got paid extra for adding that in. He said yeah, about 50 cents… LOL. He was very funny in this interview! The guy was talking about the studio cafeteria, or something like that, asked how much a coke was in the pop machine in the studio. He said it was $1.25. They thought it was nuts. He says he doesn’t buy it, he brings his own.
When Bandy & Bailey referred to “Nick” as a nurse, Stephen spoke in character saying, “Don’t call me a nurse. I’m an orderly.” Then he laughed and told them that was “Patch” talking.
Stephen talked about how Jack convinced him to go back to Salem with him even though he doesn’t know “the dude.” He said that he prefers to say “memory loss” instead of amnesia.
He talked about how it was hard to get used to wearing the patch again. Bandy & Bailey joked that all you need is “a patch, a puppy and a baby [to make women swoon].” Stephen agreed and laughed.
They said how huge this is for DOOL; Stephen says it’ll be a lot of fun.
It was a short interview, but what a wonderful way to start a Monday morning.
