Transcript: Steve and Kayla On The Run/Steve Wishes On A Star

Aired June 15, 1987

This scene starts right after Steve and Kayla were forced to leave the “honeymoon hideaway” as shots rang out (just as they were starting to make love). They are now hiding in the woods with Justin and Adrienne. Steve is alone looking out at the stars when Kayla comes up behind him. She says hi, and he says it as well, kind of dejected.

K: Beautiful night, isn’t it?

S: Yeah. It isn’t anything like I thought it would turn out though.

K: Me either. But we’re still a long way from Los Angeles.

S: I don’t know why, Sweetness, we just seem to have a hard time getting together, don’t we?

K:Yeah.

S:What do you think that means?

K: I guess it just means that when we finally do get together it’ll be wonderful.

(At this point, they kiss, then hug. His look is like he’ll never let her go–he’s at home in her arms.)

S: Baby.

K: I guess I should get back.

S: Yea, me too.

Kayla starts to walk away, and it’s obvious neither is ready to let go. Their fingers finally separate, she leaves, then Steve turns back to the stars and says: “First star I see tonight.” Once again, he doesn’t really see a happy ending, but wants one. It’s Kayla with faith enough for both of them.
