THE STAR OF DAYS OF OUR LIVES AND GH WRITES FOR YOU:

Kayla by day—-and Katherine by night. Or is it Katherine at noon, Kayla at three? I haven’t enough time to change clothes, let alone men. Whom will I kiss today? Stephen or Shane, Damien or Scotty? Or how about Ned, or is that really Justin? How weird! The roles are so diverse. Katherine (on GH) is a manipulative con artist with questionable redeemability. Kayla (on DOOL) is so sweet and good and, well, er, nice. (A bit younger too!) I don’t know where they’re going with Katherine, but I’m hoping there is a little of Kayla in her, deep down.

DOOL was tough that last year. And I really wanted Kayla to mourn and reminisce about Stephen. Company policy I discovered was, “We do not discuss people who are off the show!” I was told: “Move Forward.” With Stephen and Patsy Pease gone, so were two of the hottest supercouples. The producers did the first thing that flashed into their brains–pair up the remains!

Many people refused to accept Kayla and Shane at first, but eventually tolerated it and finally approved. Charley(Shaughnessy) and I were totally goofy friends since we had worked together for five years and had so many family scenes together. But when they threw us together as a couple and that first kiss loomed in our future, we just couldn’t do it. Whenever we tried…we’d crack up!

One day during dress rehearsal, Charley grabbed me, spun me around and gave me a big long kiss. The he said, “Good! just wanted to make sure we could get through it.” It was a cinch after that.

Charley is now on a sitcom here in the US called Nanny. His character is rather aristocratic and employs the nanny. Stephen recently made a guest appearance on the show playing a preening, self-possessed, narcissistic soap star, forever flossing his teeth. Stephen also had a recurring role as the bad guy on Connie Selleca’s series, Second Chances. He always has a few irons in the fire.

On GH, I am starting to work more closely with Wally Kurth. In fact, we may be getting married soon (strictly a business arrangement!). On DOOL, Wally and I were also, er, totally goofy friends since we’d worked together for five years and had so many family scenes together….and he says he’ll laugh hysterically if he has to kiss me. Here we go again! I’ll see you next issue.
