Steve gets a visit from Benjy with a tarot card which sends off a banging in Steve\'s head. Steve helps Shawn and Belle get Claire away from Philip and Steve starts to have fits of rage and uncontrolled behavior.

Steve attacks EJ ends up in jail. Kayla begs Steve to get some help. He checks himself in where he has visions of being tortured. He breaks out. While sleeping one night, Steve attacks Kayla in her sleep. He leaves her even as she begs him to stay. He then kidnaps John and forces Kayla to operate on him.

Kayla has Steve arrested and put back in the ward where he breaks out and seeks Billie\'s help to escape. Kayla and Marlena catch up to him and take him down.

Steve is still in the hospital and him and Kayla fight over her going after EJ. Kayla is run off the road and Steve breaks fakes sick so he can go see her and goes after EJ. Stephanie comes back to Salem a new person.

Adrianne comes to Salem to help Kayla with Steve. Kayla, Bo, and Adrianne break Steve out of the hospital and Kayla tries to deprogam him, but EJ kidnaps him first. EJ sends Steve to Tinda Lau to kill Bo, but Kayla gets there in time to stop him. Kayla has her own ways to deprogram him.

Steve comes back to Salem after Tinda Lau and works as a oprative in the Dimera mansion for Bo. Steve doesn\'t like Stephanie\'s new boy friend.

Kayla is back in town as she learns Steve is working undercover. Steve and Kayla first discuss having a child.

Kayla finds an abandoned baby and her and Steve decide to take him in and call him Pocket.

Steve helps Bo “fake” kill Stefano. When he is arrested, Kayla visits him at the station where she helps him eat an apple. Stephanie goes missing after she is forced to jump from a plane with Max. Kayla rushes to Vegas to look for her with Bo. She finds her and Max in a cave. Pocket first gets sick and Steve rushes him to the hospital. Kayla catches Jeremy (who is now a fugitive) in their suite and Kayla has it out with Stephanie and Jeremy over Stephanie wanting to help him. Meanwhile Steve is stabbed and comes back to the suite. Steve finds Benjy dead in a grave they thought had Roman in it.

Steve takes Stefano hostage for Roman. He is arrested but later Stefano drops the charges. Pocket gets sick again and Kayla takes him to the hospital where Hope supports her there. Steve and Kayla learn that “Pocket” could potentially be Philip’s son. John dies. Steve and Kayla let Pocket go. Steve and Kayla have a family talk with Stephanie

Everyone is trying to stop Sami from marrying EJ. At the wedding, EJ is shot and Steve is acting suspicious. Stephanie thinks she might be pregnant and once Steve finds the box for the test, Kayla lies and says it was hers. They talk about having another baby. Steve finds out it was Stephanie’s. Belle and Shawn’s wedding goes on as Kayla is at home with Stephanie. Steve and Bo confront Ford.

Steve and Kayla decide to jump start the baby making in the Blues Mobile. Then try later at home as they discuss having a baby and the risks involved. Steve and Kayla share Hope’s birthday with her, where Kayla learns that Stephanie was raped by Ford. Kayla spends Christmas at the hospital and Steve searches for Marlena.
